In 1976 Luigi Sevignani founded Tecnologia Ospedaliera whose activity initially involved the distribution of hospital equipment and surgical instruments in northern Italy.
This activity brings the company into the operating theatre and this has as a direct consequence the introduction of disposable covering systems for operating theatres into its range. This represented a novelty for those years as the cloths used in the theatres were still all made of cotton and this had the consequence of a higher incidence of infections contracted during surgery.

In the early eighties, our founder, Luigi Sevignani, was chosen to found the Italian branch of the German multinational Paul Hartmann AG, committed, with its wide range of products, to the fight against hospital infections, and he remained Managing Director until his retirement. Tecnologia Ospedaliera thus acquired the distribution of Paul Hartmann brand products for northern Italy.

In the 1990s, the management of Tecnologia Ospedaliera was handed over to his two daughters, Anna and Emma, who brought several innovations in terms of “core business” and reference markets, building on the experience gained in the hospital sector.

The company is currently present with distributors in about 30 foreign countries including the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Israel and the United Arab Emirates, as well as operating in Italy with more than 1,500 active customers including healthcare, orthopaedics, pharmacies and parapharmacies, private clinics, hospitals and nursing homes.

Tecnologia Ospedaliera owns the brands Higienic Pants and Silverette.

“Our Mission is to offer products that actually represent solutions for the end user and that cover a real need, not just the consequence of marketing activities; the field in which we operate, health and healthcare, cannot leave room for consumerism, needs are real and products must fulfil their function and keep their promises.”

To achieve these goals, the first step is to listen to the user, to understand how their condition could be improved. The introduction of each product is therefore preceded by a study of the patient’s needs and a careful analysis of possible and acceptable solutions. The prior evaluation of functionality is also carried out with the collaboration of end users and, if the product requires it, with specific tests by certified laboratories.
